Things are just getting too stupid to believe

November 19, 2007 mindspring 1 comment

Desperate times lead to desperate acts.  And soon enough desperation turns to stupidty.

It has become so stupid, that I am no more motivated to blog.   Before, i felt that there was a need to make my opinion in issues heard but now, no need.

Let see – the brickendonburry is dead in the water – well at least that is the only sliver of good news for today.

Elections commisioner says he knows the elections date already – truth or lie?

VK lingamgate has nazri and rais contradicting each other – one has to be lying.

Police report on Raja Petra for causing disunity – plain hypocrite considering UMNO holding its general assembly on Deepavali

In recent months there were lots of articles on people in Malaysia retiring without enough money to continue living, today Star report how economy is going to boom as EPF will allow for immediate withdrawal of up to 7% of savings straight into one’s own account.

While I am on this, please change MALAYSIA BOLEH to MELAYU BOLEH. Can you remind me of any non malays who have done a malaysia oleh thing?

Likewise we ndo not need Islam Hadhari, we just need melayu hadhari.

I guess, give that we are already morally, politically, democratically and economically bankrupt we might as well break the pigy bank.

and so it goes on….

All I can say is,

1. make sure you are registered to vote

2. vote for your future not for the past.

PM: Speed up mitigation work

June 24, 2007 mindspring Leave a comment

KUALA LUMPUR: All flood mitigation projects should be speeded up to prevent the federal capital from being hit by floods, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.

“I want all projects such as the deepening of rivers and construction of retention ponds to be completed ahead of schedule.

“You must hurry up with these efforts,” he said at Kuala Lumpur City Hall yesterday during a briefing on the flood which paralysed Kuala Lumpur for at least three hours on Sunday night.

Three hours of rain caused many parts to be under water.

The floods also caused traffic to come to a standstill throughout the city.

Two people were injured when they were pinned under a fallen tree at Dataran Merdeka after the rain.

Abdullah said the main project which should be quickly completed was the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) project and the flood mitigation projects for Sungai Klang, Sungai Gombak, Sungai Batu and Sungai Kerayong.

He said everyone should mobilise more resources to enable this to happen.

“It seems that the floods this time covered more areas. How long must we face this?” he said.

He said personnel involved in emergency programmes for floods should also be ready at all times.

This was because floods were now non-seasonal.

Abdullah said the authorities should also be prepared to clear rubbish which caused rivers and drains to clog up, calling them “the human factors” which caused flooding.

Deputy Federal Territory Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop, who was one of those who gave the briefing, told reporters later yesterday that a special task force would be formed to look into details of the flood mitigation projects and ensure that they were completed earlier than scheduled.

“We understand the frustrations of the people.

“We will work hard to prevent floods from happening,” he added.

He said between 4.30pm and 9pm on Sunday, 72mm of rain fell in the city. The average rainfall for the city for June is about 130mm.

Abu Seman said about 30 areas here were flooded on Sunday night but no one was evacuated.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the public had a role to play in preventing floods by not throwing rubbish into rivers.

“These are the signs that the environment is not being looked after,” he said after visiting the Royal Malaysian Navy’s new Sepangar Bay base in Sabah.

Category for SMART TUNNEL & FLOODS IN KL

June 24, 2007 mindspring Leave a comment

Because our leaders have a track record of making empty promises and we have a track record of forgetting what they said, I am now creating a category called Smart Tunnel to hold all post on flooding in KL.

Hopefully we will be able to track what was said and what actually happens….. Why choose the SMART Tunnel: a: because of its RM2.1 billion price tag so there is a public interest element to it and b: because flooding in KL just gets from bad to worse and c: no one is prepared to take accountability for either the tunnel or the flooding.

With regards to my comment: Our leaders dont have a track record: Just click on the MAMPU category and you will see what I mean….

RM2 toll for SMART tunnel use – read it here

PETALING JAYA: Users of the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) will be charged a RM2 toll from 11.59pm on June 14, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said Monday.

SMART toll to start on Friday

KUALA LUMPUR: Toll collection at the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) motorway will start at midnight on Friday, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said.

“I’ll announce the toll rate in one or two days,” he told reporters after opening the Hindu Dharma Mamandram national delegates’ meeting in Batu Caves yesterday.

“I can’t guarantee there’ll be a reasonable toll because it costs a lot of money to build the tunnel,” he said.

While we celebrate the SMART Tunnel lets also see what was happening last night in KL:

Some great photos form the STAR (very nice job) here

Please note the flooded underpass which I am absolutely certain leads to the or is from the entrance of the SMART tunnel!

It really is ironic that we have done a feat of engineering with the construction of the SMART Tunnel and yet KL is flooded! Well I guess its time to sit back and listen to all the excuses that will be spewing forth.

By the way, I wouldn’t pay RM2 to be in the SMART tunnel with flooding going on……..

Most MP’s serve the people, says Pak Lah….except one

As reported in The Star I agree with Pak Lah, most MP’s probably do indeed serve the people except for the MP who looks after the Sungai Buloh/Desa Aman/Sierramas/Valencia/ Rahman putera area.

This area has been struggling with serious environment issues (and DOE can vouch for that) but to date the MP has not show his/her face of take any interest in the matter.

So Pak Lah, can you please do something about it?

At least when the Sierramas bridge that connected Sierramas to the NKVE was demolished, Samy Vellu was very quick to act on it, as he was quoted in teh papers saying becasue his fellow ministers in the area had asked him to act and I quote from the STAR:

Samy Vellu said Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek and Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn, who are both residing in Sierramas, had asked for the early opening of the interchange as well as the bridge.”

Ok, maybe Fong Chan Onn and Chua Soi Lek can make the complaint to Pak Lah and then PAk Lah will act on it.

Ijok, be fair to the rest of us, please vote the opposition…

Dear Ijok Voters, please please vote the opposition!

You have been so lucky to have this by-election and see millions of ringgits poured into your community. For fifty years nothing has happened and overnight you have become more hip and happening even compared to Bangsar and Sri Hartamas

Your landfill has been closed, your roads upgraded, schools, mosques improved etc. etc. Now you must be fair to the rest of us rakyaat. We too want the same. Right now the best we can do is pray our assembly man dies before the next General Elections and hope we benefit from another by-elections.

If you vote for BN, it means that BN will get cocky and the next by election the community will not benefit as much as you have. If you vote opposition, BN still rules the country but they will be less cocky and have to pour more money .

I recall Rocky’sBRU posting a piece of how he and the resident of his area has to suffer the stench of a waste dump, I hope his assemblyman dies so the problem can be resolved.

My area in Sg Buloh – Valencia / Sierramas / Desa Seri Aman suffers from the most noxious air pollution which continues today despite the fact 2 Ministers stay in this vicinity and the Selangor Environment guy, Dato Ch’ng Toh Eng just talks but does nothing either. No wonder you guys in ijok were smart enough to ensure no less than Khir Toyo made the announcement.

Topping their list of grievances was the Batang Berjuntai dumpsite that had been the rubbish disposal area for several districts in Selangor.

The makeshift site had turned into an ugly hill, earning Batang Berjuntai, within the Ijok constituency, the uncomplimentary nickname of “dumpsite town.”

Last Tuesday, it was shut for good. Selangor Executive Councillor Datuk Ch’ng Toh Eng had earlier announced the closure, but folks insisted on hearing it from Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo himself.

Said one new village grassroots organiser: “Locals are not taking words lightly. Tell them the dumpsite will be closed for good and they demand to see it in black and white.

“In fact, they refused to take the word of Ch’ng when he announced the closure several days before Dr Khir did.”

Frankly, I have given up on “the government machinery and all the promises the cheap words they use”. All talk no action. I am now learning from you , people of Ijok and I am down to praying my assemblyman dies to so this environmental problem gets resolved. Sad isn’t is, but all other channels just don’t seem to work!

Valencia, Sg Buloh, moving again on air pollution

April 16, 2007 mindspring 3 comments

Today 16.04.07 we convened a meeting among resident in Valencia, Sg Buloh, to discuss the issues pertaining to the ever worsening air pollution in our area.

What is important is that we recognize that we are not the only people affected but there is a larger community that surrounds us that is just as affected.  Right now we have to figure out how to  move forward.

Just to give a feeling of how bad it is, when the bad stuff is in the air, I cant event step out of my front door.  Just to go to the mail box I will have to cover my nose and hold my breath.  Think of the worse haze that we have had and this is just a bit worse.

So here is my realization, in Valencia we have fantastic security to keep the bad guys out, but at the same time we have factories around us spewing up foul smelling air that keep us locked in our houses. How ironic.

Let see how it goes….
